During Q3 2025, Nordic Standard Capital extended the research framework around VALKYRIE to consider additional unstructured information and more granular portfolio risk controls. The goal was to evaluate whether those inputs could improve the timing and quality of signals in changing market conditions.

Broader information, stricter evaluation

The update introduced neural-network methods for analysing selected news and sentiment data alongside existing quantitative inputs. Such data can be noisy, delayed, or difficult to interpret. The research process therefore requires careful data provenance, separation between development and evaluation samples, and checks for whether a signal remains useful after trading costs.

Risk controls were also refined to assess exposure at a more detailed level. A system may identify an opportunity and still decide not to act if liquidity, concentration, or execution conditions fall outside predefined limits. That discipline is central to how a quantitative process should be assessed.

What an update does not establish

A technical enhancement is not, by itself, evidence of superior investment returns. Predictive accuracy can vary by market regime, and signals may weaken or disappear. Continued monitoring, independent review, and transparent reporting are necessary before drawing conclusions about an update's practical value.

This retrospective describes the scope and intent of the Q3 2025 work. It does not state a measured performance improvement or guarantee any future result.

General commentary only. Investment strategies can lose value, and model changes may not improve outcomes.
